Lorenz Froihofer studierte Informatik und Informatikmanagement an der Technischen Universität Wien und promovierte 2007 mit Auszeichnung. Während seines Studiums und im Zuge seiner Forschungs- und Lehrtätigkeit spezialisierte er sich auf dem Gebiet des Software Engineerings von zuverlässigen Verteilten Systemen im Rahmen des EU Forschungsprojektes DeDiSys (Dependable Distributed Systems) im Arbeitsbereich Verteilte Systeme. Zuvor war er war als Forschungsassistent im MediaTeam Oulu (Universität von Oulu, Finnland) tätig und arbeitete während seiner Diplomarbeit über Sicherheit in WLAN Netzwerken in enger Zusammenarbeit mit SIEMENS Österreich. Derzeit arbeitet er mit seiner Expertise in Bezug auf Software Engineering, Sicherheit und Zuverlässigkeit im österreichischen FIT-IT Projekt TRADE (Trustworthy Adaptive Quality Balancing through Temporal Decoupling).
